Kolkata: West Bengal chief secretary Malay De and home secretary Atri Bhattacharya will meet BJP representatives at Lalbazar to discuss about Rath Yatra, as per BJP sources on Wednesday. The DG of state police will also be present at the meeting. Jayprakash Majumder and Pratap Banerjee will be present on behalf of BJP.
An e-mail on this matter reached BJP office on Wednesday from Nabanna. It needs mention that within an hour of the notice, the BJP was willing to sit with the state government and discuss on the matter. Senior BJP leader Mukul Roy informed them at Nabanna.
As per the orders by Calcutta High Court’s division bench, the state’s chief secretary, home secretary and state police DG agreed to discuss over BJP’s Rath Yatra. Following the court’s orders, the meeting will take place on Thursday. On Friday, the court will have to be informed as to how and when will the Rath Yatra take place. Even if the state administration does not wish to do the Rath Yatra, then that must be mentioned too.
On the other hand, the future all rallies related to the Rath Yatra till December 14, remains uncertain. Thus, the programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Siliguri on December 16 is also uncertain and depends on the court’s verdict on Friday or December 14. Based on the verdict, Modi’s programme in West Bengal will be decided.
The Rath Yatra on 9 and 14th December has been cancelled. Based on the next situation, the upcoming Yatras will be decided.
According to sources, the state will inform their displeasure over the Rath Yatra to the BJP leaders. The state government does not wish to give its green signal if the BJP’s routes do not match with theirs.
