Firhad Urges People To Donate In Relief Fund Instead Of Sending Flowers

Kolkata: Kolkata’s ‘Mayor-in-future’ Firhad (Boby) Hakim, soon after getting the responsibility from his party, requested his well wishers to not waste money on sending him flowers. Instead he urged them to deposit the money to the Relief Fund.

Appreciating the love showered upon him by many, Firhad said, “Lots of people both from party and from among the citizens are congratulating me, sending me bouquet of flowers and sweets. I want to thank everyone.”

The Mayor-in-future added, “But these (flowers and sweets) are of no use as tomorrow itself we will have to throw the flowers and it is not possible to eat so many sweets. If you really want to help, then you can do so by donating your money to either of the Mayor Relief Fund or the Chief Minister Relief Fund. With that money, we can help the poor people. We can also help those who are sick or undergoing heart operation. I will be more happy if you can donate in the Relief Fund.”

Thus, urging the people not to waste money, Firhad said, “Please do not send flowers to me. Instead you can deposit those money to Relief Fund. Please don’t waste money.”

West Bengal Urban Development Minister and Minister of Municipal Affairs Firhad Hakim was selected as the new Mayor Of Kolkata Municipal Corporation on November 22. This is the first time a representative from the minority community got the position of Mayor after Independence.

Hakim was made the new Mayor after Sovan Chatterjee resigned from two of his ministerial portfolios and his position from Mayor.
