Firhad Brings Baiswanor In Mayor-In-Council

Kolkata: On December 3, West Bengal Minister Firhad Hakim was elected as the Mayor of Kolkata after wining by 121 votes in the mayoral election. He took the oath on the same day and the oath was read to him by KMC chairperson Mala Roy.

Atin Ghosh also took the oath as the deputy mayor of KMC. TMC Councillor Baiswanor Chatterjee was elected in the mayor-in-council. He also took his oath on Monday itself.

After assuming office, mayor Firhad Hakim said, “The development underway in the entire state will have to be followed in Kolkata too. With that aim, will work with sincerity.”

On the first day, the mayor announced several projects including making the city green and tax discount for maintaining water bodies. On Tuesday, he also announced portfolios and divided the work among the members of the mayor-in-council.

According to the notice issued, new mayor-in-council’s TMC councillor Baiswanor Chatterjee get housing, Gitanjali, Law, TPDD and PPP. Indrani Saha Banerjee gets health insurance scheme, BPL, NSAP, NFBS, Swasthyasathy, RSBY, Rupashri, Khadyasathi. Deputy mayor Atin Ghosh gets more departments.
