Haldia: A massive fire broke out at the Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL), the second largest petrochemical company in India, on Sunday.
The fire broke out at HPL at 11:30 in the morning. The workers rushed to the spot after getting the news. They tried to douse the flames themselves. 12 fire tenders including the factory’s own tenders from Haldia’s several factories, have been rushed to the spot.
The HPL officials refused to comment over the reason for the fire breakout or the amount of loss incurred due to the fire. The fire officials said that after primary investigation, it is being suspected that after a gas pipe broke, the gas spread which lead to the fire.
