Fire Department Orders Shut Down Of Priya Cinema Hall


Kolkata: DG of fire department Jagmohan visited Priya Cinema hall after a fire broke out on Sunday evening. After a thorough inspection, he has ordered the shut down of shows. A forensic analysis team is about to reach the spot.

A fire broke out in the Priya Cinema Hall at Deshapriya Park on Sunday night. Four fire tenders were pressed into service. Disaster management team of Kolkata Police was there. It is one of the biggest cinema hall of Kolkata. Many celebrities used to visit the place frequently for their official launch. Reportedly a screening was on when incident occurred.

Police reported that the owner of Priya Entertainment Arijit Dutta stays near alongside the building who is safe with his family.

Many higher level administrative persons reached the spot within half an hour of the incident. Many administrative officials along with Mayor Sovon Chatterjee, Police Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also visited the spot. Tollywood actor Dev was visible when the disaster control team was working to extinguish the fire.

Several said that the building caught fire as a restaurant is there attached to the hall. But police officials said that the fire broke out from Arijit Dutta’s flat’s ac machine. However, after receiving the forensic report, the entire details will be out.
