Kolkata: The biggest festival of Kolkata is round the corner and yet another mishap took place in the city. Fire broke out in Kolkata lather complex on Wednesday afternoon. Seven fire tenders have reached the spot.
Reportedly, the fire broke out during the busy hour of the day today. It is said that several labours were inside the complex when the fire broke out. A labour has faced injury and taken to the Ruby General hospital immediately. The fire officials are now searching if any more labours are stuck inside.
“The fire broke out in the leather processing unit of a tannery inside the complex at around 12.50 p.m. on Wednesday. One labourer working inside sustained minor injuries in the incident,” the fire official said.
“Six fire tenders have been pressed into service to douse the flames. The situation is under control,” he said.
“The reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained. Senior officials of the department have reached the spot,” the official added.
