Chandigarh: An FIR has been lodged against Aamir Khan in Chandigarh for allegedly disrespecting the National Emblem in the popular show 'Satya Mev Jayate'.  A Chandigarh resident has sought registration of a first information report (FIR) against Bollywood star Aamir Khan for alleged cheating. In a complaint filed with the Chandigarh police this week, Harman S Sidhu, who runs a non-governmental organisation, alleged that Khan made improper use of the national emblem in his TV serial Satyamev Jayate and minted money through donations by fooling the viewers.

In the complaint against Khan, his production house and Star India, Sidhu alleged that Khan and other respondents made improper use of national emblem "for private commercial gains," which is illegal. Sidhu alleged offences punishable under Emblems & Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1950 and The State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, 2005. "Both the Acts require a prior permission of the central government by the user of the national emblem. However same has not been done in this case, and millions of people have been duped and millions of rupees have poured in because of this misrepresentation," he said in his complaint.
