Fierce encounter in Chhattisgarh, 4 killed

Bijapur: Two personnel of Chhattisgarh special task force (STF) were killed in an encounter with the outlawed CPI (Maoist) at Mirtur in Bijapur district, Raipur on Sunday. Two rebels were also shot dead in the gunbattle.

There is no information available about the strength of security personnel who were out on operation, though the police claim several Maoists were injured in the gunfight. The forces are yet to return to their base camp. The gunfight reportedly continued for couple of hours.

On April 11, seven STF personnel were killed and 10 injured in an ambush by Maoists in the hilly terrain of south Bastar’s Sukma district. The reinforcement were rushed to the area to assist the forces for carrying out cordon-and-search operation.
