Mathura: In a barbaric incident a national level fencing player, Hoshiyar Singh died after allegedly being pushed off a moving train by Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel at Sikandra Rao station of Hathras district near Mathura.
His relatives said he had been attempting to meet his ailing wife, who was travelling in a women’s-only coach of the train when the GRP constables tried to prevent him. Although an FIR has since been lodged against two GRP personnel, senior officers of the GRP denied that constables of the force were involved in the incident.
His father has alleged that the railway police told Singh to get off the ladies’ compartment or pay some money. Soon, the argument broke out and police personnel allegedly pushed Singh out of the moving train. “The GRP personnel asked my son to leave the coach or pay Rs. 200… By that time the train started moving,” Singh’s father said.
The victim’s wife, who was inconsolable, demanded strict punishment for the GRP personnel. “They pushed my husband off the train…I was not well and I called him to the ladies’ coach. He was talking to me when the Railway Police came to him asked what he was doing in the ladies’ coach,” she said.
“In the meantime, the train started moving and they pushed him… I want that strict punishment should be given to them,” she added.
