Female Health Workers Walk Towards Nabanna, Rally Stopped By Police

Howrah: The health department workers of the municipality walked till Nabanna on Monday in demand for equal work equal pay, starting of EPF and many others. But the rally was stopped by the police barricade at Kajipara lane near Shibpur Dinabandhu College.

After this, at least more than 1000 women health workers sat down on the road in front of the barricade. Later, a team of four representatives went to Nabanna and submitted a deputation.

According to the health department staffs, they must be given equal pay for equal work and EPF should be started. They also demanded that everyone of them should be brought under the ‘Sastha Sathi’ scheme. In case of work, the age limit should be made 65 and they must be given medical benefits too.

Apart from these, they also demanded that the proportional amount of three thousand must be extended. During retirement, they should be given a retirement benefit of 3 lakh rupees.

In demand for these, all the health department workers of the municipal corporation took to the streets.

After submitting deputation, they blocked the road in front of the governmental bus depot  near Shibpur Dinabandhu College. Later on the police came and disrupted the  blockade.
