London: For an historic eighth time, Roger Federer wins the Wimbledon men’s singles title. Roger Federer won the 19th Grand Slam of his career and his eighth Wimbledon title as he beat an emotional Marin Cilic on Centre Court.
The 35-year-old won 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 against Cilic, who was in visible distress throughout the match and even appeared to break down in tears at 3-0 down in the second.
After being tended to by his trainer and receiving support from the crowd, Cilic, who was playing in his first ever SW19 final, continued to play but was swept away 6-1 in the second set.
And Federer won a more closely-contested third 6-4 to beat Cilic in straight sets and add yet another Grand Slam to his brilliant career.
