Farzana’s brother takes protest to celluloid

Kolkata: After the death of former deputy mayor of  Farzana Alam, her brother Safaraz Alam ha planned to make a documentary on his deceased sister Farzana. The plot of the short film will surface  how she was killed by a section of Trinamool workers. While Safaraz started the shoot since May 12, a day after her death, on Sunday her family lodged a complaint with Kareya police to include the section of murder and probe it as a murder case.

Safaraz Alam had earlier directed “Choker Pani”, a film based on Manik Mondal’s novel on the Nandigram movement during the 2007, is now hell bent to make the documentary and for that he has also hired some of his old crew members for the shoot. Safaraz said, “We captured the party office where my sister was assaulted when she went there after holding a rally against the Left union’s strike. Some Trinamool workers pushed her and tried to stop her from entering the party office as she lost the councilor election. It is not clear why she was shifted out of ward no. 28, which she was earlier representing, as she nursed the ward and done much for the ward and a major section of the people’s view of ward 28 will be there.”
