New Delhi: Uncertainty over Radamel Falcao’s future at Manchester United has further heightened with the player’s agent claiming that the striker needs to play every week, according to reports.
The Columbian was left out of the United squad by Louis van Gaal for the Premier League defeat at home by Southampton on Sunday. Falcao joined United on a season-long loan from French side Monaco for £6m in September.
However, Falcao’s spell at Manchester has been hampered by a calf injury and he has started only eight matches so far, scoring three goals in all competitions. And the club has until May to activate a £40m buy-out clause to get the services of the former Atletico Madrid star.
Unhappy with Falcao’s limited playing time and opportunities at Old Trafford, Jorge Mendes said that 28-year-old will play for one of the best clubs next season.
“The truth is, now, we don’t know what will happen. What we do know is that he will play for one of the very best clubs in the world next season, whether that is Manchester United or not. I am 100 per cent sure of that. But you know how football works – we’ll see what happens,” Mendes was quoted as saying.
Mendes also empathised with United fans for not getting to see more of Falcao.
“It is very difficult for Manchester United fans… They have an absolutely brilliant player, one of the very best in the world, who would without any doubt play 90 minutes of the match, every time, with any other club,” the agent added.
Regarded as one of the top agents, Mendes had earlier brought Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea to the club.
