Murshidabad: Murshidabad police recovered fake currency notes worth Rs 8 lakh 3 thousands from Samserhganj, Milk colony, arrested two international smugglers for their alleged involvement in the smuggling of currency.
Acting on a specific information, Police raided Milk Colony area of Samsherganj where two persons wondered at night. After that police arrested them red-handed. The accused have been identified as Rahim Seikh and Mizan Seikh. Police Super Mukesh Kumar said that one of the suspects, Rahim Seikh is a resident of Nababganj in Bangladesh and another Mizan Seikh is a resident of Jharkhand.
The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code on charges of circulating fake currency notes. Police have interrogated the accused about the modus operandi of the gang
Rahim Sheikh brought fake notes from Bangladesh and handed over half of the fake notes to Mizan Seikh at Baishnab Nagar. The rest of the fake notes were supposed to be given to another person.
Rahim Sheikh was waiting there when Mizan did not come. At that moment, the police caught them red-handed. The names of several people came into light after questioning two accused. The smugglers were taken to the court on Wednesday. Police appealed for 10 days police custody. Police started investigations.
