Fake Currency worth Rs 64 lakh seized from Maldah

Maldah: BSF catches a big fish at Maldah on Thursday. The officers had seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of face value of Rs 64.65 lakh from a village near Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Maldah district.

The person from whom the notes were seized was being interrogated and he, along with the seized notes, would be handed over to the police, said BSF DIG Arjun Singh Rathor said.

The border guard personnel raided a house at Daulatpur village under Baishnab Nagar police station following a tip off and seized the fake currency, Rathore added.The counterfeit notes are in the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1000, he said.
