Major Explosion In Times Square, 2 In Custody

New York: An injured suspected bomber is in custody after a possible pipe bomb explosion in Manhattan, according to police. Multiple subway lines have been evacuated, and trains are bypassing Times Square and Port Authority.

The explosion occurred at West 44th Street and Eighth Avenue, sources said. A man with a “possible second device” has been detained in the subway tunnel, sources said. He was described him as “having wires coming out of him.”

Police later confirmed a suspected bomber was injured and detained. The extent of his or her injuries is not known. The A, C and E subway lines were being evacuated, Sgt. Brendan Ryan told and the busy Port Authority bus terminal was temporarily shut down. Police told they took two person into custody.
