Exide Invests 500 Cr In Haldia

Haldia: One the second day of the New Year Bengal received an investment to the tune of Rs 500 crore from Exide industries. Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banrjee on Monday inaugurated India’s first punch-grid storage battery plant at Haldia. She also inaugurated an IT Park at Haldia.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “In Bengal no mandays are lost due to bandhs now. We have a new policy for industry. We have a land bank, land map.” She said that a new international convention centre will come up at Digha.

Highlighting the woes of demonetisation, the CM added: “The industrial scenario in the country has worsened in the last 2 months. The MSME sector is going through turmoil. Even in America, economy is only 40% cashless. In India, 92% rural areas have no banks.”

She said in a democracy the government is of the people, by the people and for the people.
