Evolution Of Kolkata Through The Eyes Of Poet


Kolkata: ‘Woman And Her Muse,’ a poetry-book by Lopamudra Banerjee, currently based
in America, was launched from Inter-cultural Poetry and Performance Library in Ho
Chi Minh Sarani.

The chief guest was ICCR’s regional head Gautam Dey, former dean of Arts department
of the Calcutta University Dr. Suryakanta Dasgupta and several other important
personalities were present in the book publishing programme. It is an
autobiographical book written in the form of poetry based on her own feelings and

A discussion was also arranged where Lopamudra Banerjee said, “I have tried to
reflect the Kolkata city, different Bhawans, the tilottama’s different ups and
downs in this book in the form of poem and prose-poetry.”

Topics such as 3.5-century-old Kolkata’s roads, hand-pulled rickshaw, cycle
rickshaw, Princep Ghat, Jorasanko Thakurbari, children living on roads, are all
covered in this poem book.
