Kolkata: The entire city along with the intellectuals have stood beside the 21 students who are fasting until death. Their protest has entered the 13th day, but a solution is yet to be met.

In support to the students, a mass convention was arranged at the Medical College on Sunday. It saw the presence of top intellectuals, students and people from all walks of life. Huge number of signs were made as a part of a mass petition which will be submitted to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, producer and also a former student of the Calcutta Medical college, Kaushik Sen, Arunava Ghosh, Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya spoke at the convention on Sunday.

The convention saw larger number of common people who demanded an immediate step should be taken on Sunday itself. But for making their protest a success, the protesting students do not wish to take any step on Sunday. Those hundreds of people, who has stood by those 21 fasting students, will walk from Medical College to Dharmala in a rally.

The mass petition will be submitted both to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi.

Huge number of former students were present at the convention who have said that they will also start fasting if these petitions do not work. A demand to file a suomotu case against the state has been raised from among the people attending the convention.

Lawyer Arunava Ghosh has assured to look into the matter. The health of the 21 students who are fasting have deteriorated. They are very weak to speak.
