Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar announced on his Twitter handle that his biographical film ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ is set to release on May 26, 2017. The first poster of the film was released on April 2016 and the name was announced by the batting great through a Twitter contest earlier.

The poster had gone viral as soon as Sachin posted it with names such as Shah Rukh Khan, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and so on expressing their interest in watching the film. Sachin Tendulkar retired from all forms of cricket in 2013. His autobiography, ‘Playing it My Way’ was released shortly after.

Sachin has since been involved in various media events, sharing the experiences that he has had over his illustrious 24-year career.

Sachin Tendulkar had made his debut for the national side in 1989 against Pakistan at the age of 16. In the years that followed, he became one of the most destructive batsmen in the world. As age caught on, so did injuries and niggles and so, Tendulkar changed his outright aggressive style of batting to a more mature approach.

He is the first player to get a double century in ODIs and is also the record holder for the most centuries in both Tests and ODIs. He is also the only player to have a 100 international centuries against his name.

This biopic marks the debut of Sachin as an actor. Talking about his experience at an event, the legendary cricketer said last year, “For so many years, I did whatever I wanted to do and the camera captured that. Suddenly I was asked to do particular things and then the camera captured that, so it was a bit different for me. Believe me, the first option was better… Acting is not something that I dreamt of. Without any doubt, acting was more challenging than playing cricket. I enjoyed playing more.” Tendulkar played 200 Test matches before retiring in November, 2013.

Sachin Tendulkar A Billion Dreams has been directed by the award-winning British director James Erskine. A Mumbai-based production company 200NotOut has helmed the movie. And the music would be composed by Academy Award-winning composer AR Rahman.
