To Encourage Young Generation More, Bengal Govt’s Taken New Initiative

Kolkata: Digital education system is growing by leaves and bounds. Students like to prefer digital education rather than having normal studies. Thus Libraries are almost faded. Thus The State Government is taking a slew of measures to encourage the young generation to visit the libraries in the state.

The government is turning 80 libraries into model libraries. There are around 2,480 libraries in Bengal under the jurisdiction of the Mass Education and Library Department. They will receive Rs 3 lakh each for complete overhaul of infrastructure. It is being ensured that facilities like adequate number of staff, and amenities like drinking water and toilet facilities are available at every library.

There are 1,036 such libraries in the state and in the current fiscal (2017-18), a total fund of Rs 1.76 crore has been allocated to these libraries. In the next financial year, that is, 2018-19, this allocation will be raised to nearly Rs 3 crore. Funds are also being provided to non-government sponsored libraries for boosting infrastructure.
