Chhattisgarh: At least bodies of 7 naxals , including 3 females, were recovered on Thursday morning from the Timenar forest area, near Dantewada-Bijapur border in Chhattisgar’s Bijapur..
An encounter is presently underway between the naxals and a team of District Reserve Guards (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF).
The encounter broke out at around 6 am in the forest near Timinar and Pusnar villages along the border of Bijapur and Dantewada districts when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) was out on an anti-Maoist operation, state’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police (anti-naxal operations) Sundarraj P said.
The security forces, acting on a tip-off, launched the operation from Dantewada district in the forest along the border of the two districts. According to Sundarraj, while they were cordoning off the jungles on Timinar and Pusnar villages, the exchange of fire broke out between the two sides.
“After guns fell silent, bodies of seven naxals, including three women, were recovered from the spot,” the DIG said.
A huge cache of arms and ammunitions also recovered. 2 INSAS rifles, two .303 rifles and one 12 bore rifle have been recovered so far from the possession of the killed naxals.
