Maoist Attack In Sukma, 11 CRPF Jawans Martyed

Raipur: Maoist rebels opened indiscriminate fire on a road opening party (ROP) between Bhejji and Kuttacheru at around 9 am. The attack killed 11 and left 2 CRPF jawans injured, reported by news agency ANI.

Eleven Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed and three others injured in a Maoist attack near Bhejji in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh on Saturday, reports said.

The officials said that Naxals looted 10 weapons and radio sets of the deceased CRPF jawans before running away. The personnel were from Battalion 219 of the CRPF.

IG Sundar Raj was reported as saying that the troops were on a road opening exercise in the area when the Maoists fired at them.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh said, “The Centre is in direct communication with the state government. Those who perpetrated this incident in Sukma will be brought to justice”.

Last month, two Special Task Force (STF) personnel, including an assistant platoon commander, were killed in an encounter in Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh.
