Encounter Started Between Militants & Joint Forces In Handwara


Srinagar: Encounter started between Militants & joint forces at Khanpora Magam in Handwara North Kashmir. As per sources gunfight rages after search party of forces are attacked by Militants in forest area, group of Militants trapped under forces cordon.

An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Handwara’s Khan Pora area on Sunday night. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in a forest area in Handwara in the north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, a police official said.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants fired upon the security forces. The exchange of fire was going on when last reports came in, the official said. More details in the incident awaited.

Notably, the encounter came amid the shutdown, called by Separatists to mark the second death anniversary of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani who was killed along with his two associates by the security forces on this day in 2014 in Anantnag’s district’s Kokarnag area.
