Imphal: At least three militants were reported killed in a gunfight with Assam Rifles at the highly porous India-Myanmar border on Saturday. The encounter took place 7km north of Manipur’s border town of Moreh. The killed militants were yet to be identified.
In July, the security forces had killed seven suspected militants of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland–Khaplang (NSCN-K) in Nagaland.
On the other hand a huge cache of explosives have been recovered by the army in Assam’s Goalpara district. Based on intelligence, Army launched an operation at Marnai on Thursday and apprehended a person identified as Hobibur Rehman.
8 kg of explosives and 52 detonators were found in his possession, the spokesman said quoting delayed reports. The individual was suspected to be a supplier of explosives to various militant groups in the region of Lower Assam.
