Srinagar: Security forces have killed two militants in separate encounters in Kashmir’s Kupeara and Pulwama district. the encounters are still raging as more suspected militants are likely to be holed up in the Gadorra village in Pulwama.
The terrorist killed in Pulwama has been identified as Bilal Ahmed Bhat, a cadre of Hizbul Mujahiddin. An Ak-47 assault rifle has been recovered from the slain militant.
The Kupwara encounter ensued after militants fired on a security patrol killing a militant.
Meanwhile, groups of youth staged protests and tried to march towards Gadoora village where the encounter was underway, the officials said. Their march was thwarted, leading to clashes in which eight people were injured. While six sustained pellet injuries, two others were injured after getting hit by tear smoke shells, the officials said.
