Encounter Continues In J &K’s Sopore, A Militant Killed

The Security Forces has also done a surprise search operation in more than 15 villages. They also conduct intense vehicle checks on road Nakas.

Update: A militant has been killed in the ongoing encounter at Reban village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday morning.

Srinagar: An encounter broke out between the security forces and terrorists in Sopore of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday Morning. At least one or two militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

Earlier in the day, the security forces launched a search operation in Sopore after inputs of presence of terrorists in the area.

Meanwhile, the Home Minster will embark on a 3-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday in an apparent outreach attempt to bring peace in the state.

He will travel to Srinagar, Anantnag, Jammu and Rajouri and meet with the members of civil society, businessmen and local politicians.

During his interactions, the home minister will receive people’s representations on how to bring a lasting peace in the restive Valley.

The home minister will also meet Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, and civil and security officials.
