Kolkata: A bell similar to the one at Lords Stadium would be set up at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Cricket Association Of Bengal (CAB) president Sourav Ganguly announced on Saturday evening that a similar bell as compared to the one at Lords Stadium would be placed at Eden Gardens.
Two years ago, Rahul Dravid began the first match after ringing the bell on the first day of the test match between India versus England at Lords. Sourav Ganguly followed the same thing and rang the bell on the fifth day and the last day of the test match.
By following the tradition, any former test cricketer rings the bell prior to the beginning of any test match. Sourav Ganguly “We will invite all the former national and international cricketers. Respectively, any present test cricketer will also be able to play the bell”.
As per sources, this bell will be named as ‘Eden Bell’. The bell is likely to be placed in front of the club house. Sourav Ganguly said that the bell will come from England. The New Zealand cricket team will come to India in September. They will be playing 3 test matches and 5 one day series. Eden Gardens will hold the second test. The test match would start from 30th September to 4th October. The ringing of the bell will be officially inaugurated at this match itself.
