ED Summons Himachal CM’s Wife In Money Laundering Case

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday summoned Pratibha, wife of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in connection with money laundering case against her husband.

This comes days after ED intensified its investigations and arrested LIC agent Anand Chauhan in connection with the money laundering case against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

After coming under attack from the BJP, the Congress backed Singh and asserted that the main aim of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is to defame the ruling Congress party in Himachal and wants the Chief Minister to resign over ‘false allegations’.

Congress leader Anirudh Singh told reporters, that the BJP Government is trying to defame and harass him and his family in different ways, adding that the Chief Minister will not resign over false allegations by BJP government.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has sought the response of ED on a plea filed by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh seeking a direction to the agency not to take any coercive step against him in the wake of the arrest of an LIC agent in an alleged money laundering case.

Justice Vipin Sanghi issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and asked it to file a reply on Singh’s plea by July 29, the next date of hearing.

In his plea, Singh has said he apprehended that ED might arrest him on the basis of alleged disclosure of statement of insurance agent Anand Chauhan, who was recently arrested from Chandigarh in connection with the case.
