Kolkata: ED might give a clean chit to State transport minister Madan Mitra in the Saradha scam. The Enforcement Directorate is likely to submit a chargesheet by end of June. Mitra, who has been in custody since November following his arrest by the CBI, is currently admitted to SSKM Hospital. The CBI has moved his case from the Alipore court to the Bankshall court. On the other hand, his bail plea will be heard on nest Monday, according to the Court sources.
According to an ED official, they have not found any evidence pointing at Mitra being involved in money laundering in the Saradha scam, though he had attended meetings of Saradha group and even urged people to invest in various schemes of the group. Mitra was likely to be given the benefit of the doubt, said the official. He added though there was no proof, Saradha boss Sudipto Sen`s drivers had claimed they had handed over packets of money to Mitra.
