Kolkata: In yet another blow to Trinamool leader and former transport minister Madan Mitra, the Election Commission has junked his payroll plea.
Rejecting his plea the EC said that it has no jurisdiction over the issue and thus can not accept the plea. The jailed leader is likely to file his nomination today from jail.
Madan Mitra, contesting on TMC ticket from Kamarhati constituency has sought release on payroll for ten days for the ongoing election.
Madan Mitra, an accused in the multi-crore Saradha scam is currently behind the bars along with TMC’s Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh.
Not only Saradha, Madan Mitra is in deep waters over the Narada sting, in which he was allegedly shown taking bribe and promising undue favours.
