DVC Releases 1 Lakh Cusec Water, Fear For Flood Rises

Durgapur: The Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) released atleast 1 lakh 40 thousand cusec of water on Monday, leading to rise of fears over probable floods arising due to the release of water.

On Monday, 90 thousand cusec water was released from Durgapur barrage. On Sunday, 54 thousand cusec waters were released from the Mython and Panchet barrage. Thus, this might result in a probable flood in North Bengal including Durgapur, Sadarghat, Surekalna, Chapadanga, Aamta. Howrah’s Udaynarayanpur is almost water-logged.

Aamta and Udaynarayanpur is water logged after DVC released waters. The local authorities have started using mics to announce alerts. The locals have been shifted to a much safer position. Nabanna has already issued alerts to all the districts of North Bengal and to the district magistrates and BDOs.
