Kolkata: Incessant rains have left several districts of West Bengal flooded. To add to the woes, Damodar Valley Corporation(DVC) has released fresh cusecs of water from the dams on Tuesday.
The State Government had previously appealed to the district administration to stop the release of water as the sufferings of the people are increasing. Several areas remain inundated following the incident. On Tuesday, DVC released 24000 cusecs of water from Panchet, Maithon and Durgapur barrages.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked the Irrigation Minister, Mr. Rajib Banerjee to issue a stern letter of warning to the district officials to prevent the continuous release of water from the dams. Till date,32,250 cusecs of water have been released.
