New Delhi: The weatherman has predicted heavy rains in the Northeast region and Maharashtra, and strong dust storm, thunderstorm in Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.
The weather on Sunday may remain clear, but thunderstorm or dust storm may occur in the evening and night, a MeT official said.
The mercury levels fell several notches on Saturday after a dust storm struck the capital on Friday night. The regional Met office says Delhi is likely to see another spell of dust storm activity on Sunday which could see the maximum hover around 40 degrees C.
The capital had been witnessing temperatures above 42 degrees Celsius for nine straight days before the storm, making it one of the longest such spells for the capital. With moisture-laden easterly winds blowing towards Delhi, humidity was hovering around 50% to 60% on Saturday.
The India Meteorological Department predicted heavy rains at isolated places over West Bengal, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Maharashtra.
Thunderstorms and squalls are very likely at isolated places over Gangetic West Bengal. Thunderstorms, gusty winds and lightning are very likely in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Odisha, according to the IMD weather advisory.
