Kolkata: West Bengal government has now decided to organize Durga Puja Carnival at all district headquarters and major urban hubs in the state from next year.
According to Sources, the state information and cultural affairs (I & CA) department have informed that the Chief Minister has taken the decision on finding that several Durga Puja organisers from the districts around Kolkata wanted to bring their Idols to the Carnival in Kolkata held on 3 October.
It has been decided that 25 select Durga Idols and artefacts will take part in the Carnival at the district level. The carnival in the districts will be held after the Durga Puja on a date before the main event held on Red Road in Kolkata. I & CA department will fund the district carnivals and local police will be in-charge of organising.
