Drug Racket Busted In Kolkata, 3 Students Held


Kolkata: Two engineering students and a student of business administration were arrested on the charge of possessing banned drugs.The three students were Soumik Mukherjee, Mriganka Banerjee, Koustav Kar.

Soumik studies business administration and Mriganka computer science at a prominent private college in Anandapur, off EM Bypass. Koustav studies computer applications at another college.

According to police report, some students of Kolkata run drug racket through dark web. According to tip off, police arrested on of them in red handed in disguise.

Soumik Mukherjee, 22, was the first to be arrested. Police said two gram of Ecstasy powder and 34 blotting papers of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) were seized from his house in Garia’s Ushapally.

Based on his statements, officers of the detective department of the city police rounded up Mriganka Banerjee, 29, from his Santoshpur house.

Ecstasy powder weighing 14 gm and three ecstasy tablets were seized from Mriganka, the son of a retired customs officer, and one gram of Ecstasy powder was seized from Koustav.
