Kolkata: All Bengal University Teachers Association (ABUTA) on Thursday has given a letter to Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das where they have requested not to resign from his designation.
ABUTA president Tarunkanti Naskar said, “we didn’t want VC’s resignation. VC has a important role to play. Being gheraoed for 56 hours he didn’t call police which was rare scene in CPM regime.
Tarunkanti Naskar said, “present VC is always approachable. If he resigns we won’t get back a person like him. Considering several layer of criticism we are compell to accept that JU experienced the highest international recognition in his authority. We don’t want to lose him.”
Naskar has criticised the rebel students for their behaviour during the movement. He has stated,” the behaviour is not acceptable from the students. They have slandered him badly during the protest. He also questioned morality, courtesy amid the tension with growing time. Movement should also maintain certain level of manner.
He added that, “From the previous time Ashoknath Basu has criticised Suranjan Basu. We witnessed several layer of police attack. But he didn’t do that.
