Update: DMK leader A Raja says Karunanidhi’s condition is stable.
He was admitted after his blood pressure dropped. He is being treated in a critical care unit at Kauvery Hospital.
A press release from the hospital reads: “Karunanidhi has been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of Kauvery Hospital following drop in blood pressure. His BP has been stabilized with medical management and he continued to be monitored and treated by the panel of expert doctors.”Update: The DMK chief’s chealth condition is critical.
Chennai: Former Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi was shifted to Kauvery Hospital in the early hours of Saturday. Karunanidhi being shifted in an ambulance. His children M K Alagizhi, Kanimozhi and M K Stalin have accompanied him to the hospital. Karunanidhi’s health deteriorated at 11.30 pm on Friday night after which he has been shifted from his Gopalapuram residence where he was being treated to Kauvery Hospital.
Reportedly,large numbers of crowd gathered outside the Kauvery hospital in Chennai, along with heavy police deployment.As of now there is no official word yet on how the health of the DMK patriarch.
Karunanidhi’s health suffered a slight setback on Thursday and round-the-clock treatment is being given to him at his residence in Gopalapuram, Chennai, by a team of doctors and nursing professionals from the city’s Kauvery Hospital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said he spoke with Mr. Karunanidhi’s son M.K. Stalin, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, and daughter Kanimozhi and enquired about the veteran leader’s health. “I pray for his quick recovery and good health,” wrote Mr. Modi on Twitter and added that he had offered any assistance required.
