Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee visited Esplanade area on Friday to examine the final preparations for the annual Martyrs Day rally. Lakhs of people have already started coming in to Kolkata from various districts of Bengal.
On the eve of 20th a day before 21st July Rally Mamata said “This is the 25th anniversary of 21st July rally. We have been observing this day for the last 25 years. This is our annual programme dedicated to the Maa, Mati, Manush. We pay our respects to the martyrs, as well as take new resolve for the future. Families of martyrs from Singur, Nandigram, Netai, 21st July martyrs, even Nurul Islam’s mother attend this programme.
She will come this year if her health permits. We are grateful to them. The martyrs will be alive in our hearts.”
She further added, “21st July is not just a date – it is a movement, it is an emotion, a feeling. 21 stands for resolve, 21 stands for language, 21 gives us hope, it shows us the future.”
Traffic may be held up on Saturday because of the programme, Chief Minister apologise for that. She also assured that she will try her best not to inconvenience the people at large.
Preparations for the annual 21 July rally on the occasion of Shahid Dibas are going on in full swing.
Trinamool Congress workers and supporters from across Bengal, as well as other States, are converging in Kolkata.
Massive arrangements have been made to see to it that none are inconvenienced. The party supporters are being put up at various places across Kolkata, including Milan Mela, Uttirno, Geetanjali Stadium.
All in all, everyone is geared up for the occasion and looking forward to the message to be delivered by Didi tomorrow.
