Pune: Sensational bowling spells from MoM Ravindra Jadeja (3/18) and Harbhajan Singh (2/22) helped Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets to win the 35th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.
After put into bat, RCB struggled from the very beginning on a slow and tricky pitch. Parthiv Patel (53) and Tim Southee (36*) were the only two batsmen to reach the double figure mark. After a forgettable last match, Jadeja made amends with a superlative bowling performance as he spun a web around the RCB batsmen.
Supporting him from the other end was the experienced Harbhajan who took the priced wicket of AB de Villiers along with Murugan Ashwin. In their combined 8 overs, Jaddu and Bhajji had figures of 5/40.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni praised his spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Harbhajan Singh for their stellar show while his opposite number Virat Kohli rued the dropped catches during Chennai Super Kings’ six-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bangalore in an IPL match here today.
“Spinners did not get turn (from the track) and I felt they needed to bowl really well. That’s where Bhajju pa (Harbhajan) and Jadeja did well. On surfaces such as these, Jadeja bowls really well. He got Virat and then AB getting out (to Harbhajan) early helped him. We bowled well as a team,” Dhoni said after the match.
Kohli, on his part, referred to the dropped catches of Dwayne Bravo by Parthiv Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal. Chennai were in trouble at that stage but chances went abegging.
