‘Dhakai’ welcome for Mamata at Dhaka

Dhaka: After becoming the CM of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee is for the first time going to step on the Bangladesh soil. Besides settling various issues related to the Indo-Bangla political relations, the CM is also going to be present at the ‘Bhasa Divas’ as the Chief Guest of the occasion.

Asadujjaman Noor, the Cultural Minister of Bangladesh has said that Bangladesh is gearing up to welcome Mamata Banerjee in a grand way. Although she is coming to talk about the unsettled toes between the two countries, she would also be a part of the Bangladesh culture.

Mamata would be accompanied by a team of 33 at Bangladesh. Apart from Dhakai and Jamdani sarees, the Bangladesh Govt would present the delegates with other attractive gifts. Mamata would discuss issues like sharing Teesta’s water and some other important issues with Bangladesh PM Sheikh Haseena and Prez Abdul Hamid.

Noteably, Mamata Banerjee had planned to go to Bangladesh a couple of times earlier. But somehow the plan did not substantiate. Hence, this year’s visit serves to go down in the pages of history and give an entire new horizon to the relationship between India and Bangladesh. Mamata Banerjee has already received the Bangladesh Visa. She will be accompanied by a number of known faces from the cultural and political sphere of West Bengal. The likes of Munmun Sen and Dev will be a part of the CM’s BAngla-tour.
