Ganesha Chaturthi, which celebrates as the birth of Lord Ganesha all over the country with much excitement. Lord Ganesha or Ganpati is also known as Modakpriya because of his love for modaks. During the Ganesh Chaturthi devotees offers bhog to please Lord Ganesha with his favourite food items. He is also fond of bananas and mootichoor laddus.
Every year during the Ganesh Chaturthi the sweet shops prepare this favourite sweet of Lord Ganesha. Modak, a traditional sweet is made of rice flour and stuffed with a mix of coconut shavings and jaggery.
In all his idols, Lord Ganesha is always seen holding laddus, which signifies his love for the sweet. Out of all the varieties of laddus, the bright orange Motichoor Laddu is his favourite and is often served as prasad.
The collection of fresh and seasonal fruits is offered to Lord Ganesha as bhogm which includes Bananas. Devotees also offer garlands made with banana leaves along with the stem of the banana plant and banana flowers.
