Kolkata: The depression over Bay of Bengal has brought heavy rainfall over West Bengal on Thursday. The spells of rain began in the noon and continued through the day bringing down the mercury level.
The regional weather office predicted showers for several West Bengal districts like Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas and Nadia.
On the roads, people huddled under umbrellas and took shelter in nearby buildings as the downpour began. Puddles of rainwater dotted stretches along the many streets and several other roads while traffic slowed to a snail’s pace in busy intersections.
