Denied bail, Kunal threatens for indefinite hungerstrike


Kolkata: Kunal Ghosh on Monday has threatened to undergo an indefinite hunger strike if things are not brought to light. In the City and Sesions’ Court on Monday, the case of Saradha Tour’s and Travel’s was brought up. Along with Kunal Ghosh, Sudipto Sen and Debjani Mukherjee were also present at the Court complex.

Kunal pleaded for a 20 hour bail before the judge in order to attend the Rajya Sabha Session of the Parliament. But the judge did not accept his plea and denied the interim bail. Kunal had also asked for a CBI officer and a police personnel who accompany him to New Delhi to attend the session. Kunal further told the judge that CM Mamata Banerjee and other eminent personas should be quizzed, claiming that they are associated with the Saradha Scam. He also made a statement that on Tuesday, many people associated with the Saradha scam will be seen sharing the dais with the CM. The police should be active and transparent enough to get hold of such people, concluded Kunal.

Earlier, Kunal Ghosh’s plea for a one-day parole to enable him to be present in the Rajya Sabha on July 21. Metropolitan Magistrate 21st Court Judge Arvind Mishra rejected the plea, stating that under the provision of West Bengal Correctional Service Act, 1992 Section 62 (sub clause 5), the court has no authority to grant parole to a prisoner during his confinement in a correctional home.The suspended TMC Rajya Sabha MP has been asked to be present at the Rajya Sabha on July 21.In the last week of June, a letter in this regard from Rajya Sabha was sent to the authorities of the Presidency Correctional Home where Ghosh is currently in custody.
