Delhi under security blanket ahead of Independence day


New Delhi: National Capital New Delhi has been brought under massive security cover amid threats of terrorist attack during the Independence Day celebrations. According to  the intelligence agencies, the terrorists may strike anywhere to disrupt the independence day celebrations. The area around the red fort and other surrounding areas have been placed under tight security cover ahead of the Independence Day. Nearly 40,000 police personnel have been deployed throughout the city.

According to a senior official of Delhi Police, ground to sky monitoring would also be conducted in the area. Sharp shooters will be kept in place and NSG commandos will be kept ready. Quick response team, Bomb squad and sniffer dogs will also be kept in place. CCTV cameras have been installed in the entire Red Fort area from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be addressing the nation. Paramilitary forces have been deployed in the entire capital.

Checkposts have been set up in the entire at various places to monitor the movement of vehicles. High alert has been sounded throughout the country on the backdrop of the terrorist attacks at Gurudaspur and Udhampur.
