New Delhi: In yet another shame for the national capital, a 14-year-old girl, who was returning with her brother after watching Dussehra celebration, was brutally murdered after being gang-raped by five youths in the Kundli area adjoining the New Delhi-Haryana border in Sonipat on Thursday night.
Police said four out of the five accused have been arrested, and that the case was registered at the Kundli police station.
Sources said the girl was returning home after attending Dussehra celebrations in the Narela area of Delhi. She was on a cycle. The accused, who were drunk and on-board an auto rickshaw, attacked her family members and forcibly bundled her into the auto. The victim’s mother tried to chase the auto-rickshaw in vain.
The men took the girl to a secluded place where they raped her. Meanwhile, the girl’s relative had called the police and provided the details of the kidnapping.
Police said one of the accused, Parveen Kumar, who was arrested first had confessed his involvement in the crime and had accompanied the police while recovering the body of the girl. He also showed the place the place where the girl was raped.
The police have arrested three others – Nitin, Deepak and Karan – besides Parveen, in connection with the crime. One of the accused is a minor, and the others are all auto-rickshaw drivers. Further investigations are on.
