New Delhi: According to reports, former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Shazia Ilmi will join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday.
Reports also added that Ilmi is likely to contest in the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi constituency. Ilmi had resigned last year from AAP, complaining of a lack of democracy within the party.
Ilmi had unsuccessfully contested the 2013 Delhi polls. The ex-AAP leader had lost the RK Puram seat to Anil Sharma of the BJP by a slender margin of 326 votes.
Ilmi was also defeated in the Lok Sabha Elections from Ghaziabad constituency where she contested against former Army chief General VK Singh.
Election Commission on Monday sounded the poll bigul in Delhi. Voting for Delhi Assembly Elections 2015 would be held in a single phase on February 7 with the counting of votes scheduled for February 10.
