New Delhi: As hundreds of innocents were massacred in Paris on Friday in a wave of terror attacks, India has put Delhi and Mumbai on high alert. Intelligence agencies have reportedly asked police forces in the two cities to increase security, according to a tweet by The Times of India.

Security will also be beefed up at the borders.

The Paris terror attacks were orchestrated by eight terrorists at six different locations, similar to the 26 November, 2008, attacks in Mumbai, in which 10 Pakistani terrorists attacked several locations in the city and killed 164 people.

“The attacks show a level of sophistication we really haven’t seen in an urban area since 2008 in the attack in Mumbai,” Michael Leiter, former director of the US National Counterterrorism Centre, told NBC News.

The Paris attacks on Friday were the worst in France since World War II.

A suicide bomber struck near the Stade de France football stadium where French President Francois Hollande was among the spectators of a match between the French and German national teams.
