Kolkata: During the last Lok Sabha by elections, Pramila Roy, the sister of slain social activist Barun Biswas had claimed that Minister Jyotipriya Mullick might be behind her brother’s murder. The minister threatened to file a defamation case against her following her allegation. On Tuesday the hearing of the case started at Bidhannagar CJM court.
On 15 March, the minister wrote in his own letterhead and lodged a complaint at Bidhannagar North Police station. Previously he had also filed a complaint at Gaighata Police station. The Minister’s lawyer Jaydeb Das said that Pramila Devi has been asked to appear before court on May 15. Jyotipriya Mullick said that an compensation of three crores have been demanded.
Pramiladevi is still not willing to bend on her comments. Speaking to a media house, “This things are being done to shut our mouth. We will continue with our protest demanding justice for Barun. The things which I used to say at meetings, now will be saying them at court.
Jaydeb Das said that on 11 november 2014 at a meeting in Panchpota village of Fulsara’s Gaighata she had alleged that Jyotipriya Mullick is behind her brother’s murder. She also leveled the same allegation from the dais of a political party on 11 February before the by polls. But there were questions that why the Minister took so much time to lodge a complaint. Mullick said that previously lawyer’s notice was sent to Pramila Devi twice. Since no reply was received, a complain was lodged at police station.
