Kolkata: Dipankar Das, son of Debu das, the deceased CPM candidate has moved the Calcutta High Court to get the deceased body of his parents .
In his petition, Dipankar Das has also urged the High Court to direct the police to release the dead body of his parents Debu Das and Usha Das. The dead bodies are kept at the police morgue in Kolkata following a post-mortem.
Debu Das and Usha Das, both CPM activists were locked inside their home and burnt alive hours before the panchayat polls in West Bengal. The opposition party alleged that Debu Das and Usha Das, both party activists, were killed by supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress.
Their burnt bodies were found at Namkhana in South 24 Parganas district. Their charred bodies were recovered on May 14th, the day of panchayat polls.
In a letter to the state election commissioner, a CPM leader said Debu Das had been threatened by Trinamool candidate Amit Mondol and his aides during the campaign for the Bengal panchayat election, which has seen widespread violence during voting on Monday.
The bereaved son likely to get the deceased body on Friday, according to a CPIM leader. The deceased body was taken to Diamond Harbour from Kolkata morgue on Wednesday night.
